Frank Candy started the Great Western Pottery around 1875 producing various homeware items and known as Wescontree Ware in the early part of the century. In the late 1930's the more artistic wares being produced were renamed ‘Candy Ware' with beautiful glaze and colour effects. The production of art pottery finished sometime in the 1950's.
This piece is probably post war, 1950's, or possibly late 1940's. Very rare and collectible example of Candy Ware pottery.
