Antique French ebonized wood liquor cabinet with inlaid brass and mother of pearl detail
Beautiful antique ebonized wood liquor cabinet with inlaid brass and mother of pearl design to front and top of cabinet. Circa late 1800's.
This liquor cabinet comes with internal removable caddy with gorgeous turned wood detail and includes 4 crystal decanters with stoppers (one stopper appears a replacement and not original) and 12 small sherry/liqueur/aperitif stemmed glasses. There are 2 different designs of glassware (6 of each), one with an etched design and the other plain. One side of the removable caddy has 2 tiers for the glassware, whilst the other side is only one tier.
The ebonized wooden case is lockable and complete with key.
A beautiful antique piece in overall very good condition with the following faults/age related wear to note -
There are 2 pieces of the border inlay missing (example pictured) and some minor wear/age to the exterior surface overall.
On one side the semi-circular hinge is missing (as pictured).
The other side hinge, once opened, requires you to manually guide it back through the hole to close the cover. When it opens it juts out a little to the left due to wear and perhaps because the other hinge is missing.
These age related items are quite minor considering the age of the piece. It would only increase in beauty and value with some minor restoration work.
Measurements approx. -
Cabinet overall - 320mm (W) x 250mm (D) x 270mm (H)
Decanters - 210mm (H) x 60mm diameter
Glasses x 6 (plain) - 72mm (H) x 37mm diameter
Glasses x 6 (etched) - 78mm (H) x 38mm diameter
These cabinets, in varying conditions, are selling for thousands of dollars - even those without keys and with age related wear. Postage reflects the fact that there are many pieces to consider for fragile packaging and it will probably need to be sent as 2 parcels/boxes.
