Royal Doulton collectible character jugs, John Barleycorn, designed by C J Noke. Circa 1930's.

These jugs are the miniature, small and large size character jugs, highly collectible and full of adorable character to add to a collection of Royal Doulton jugs. John Barleycorn was first introduced in 1934, and was the first in a long line of popular character jugs produced by Royal Doulton. It was produced from 1934 - 1939 only. 
John Barleycorn was modelled on a personification of the cereal crop barley and the alcoholic beverages produced from it, his persona also appears in English folk ballads. Inscribed to rear 'John Barleycorn - Old Lad'

In excellent condition, seems to have had little to no use. Sold separately.
